The California Democrat told “Fox News Sunday” that the system is “broken.”

Rep. Ro Khanna surprised Fox News host Shannon Bream on Sunday when he said he agrees with Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) on health care.
The California Democrat’s remarks came as the ongoing government shutdown appears to be without end as Democrats and Republicans blame each other.
In their discussion on the shutdown during “Fox News Sunday,” Bream pointed out that Democrats are demanding an extension of Covid-era subsidies through the Affordable Care Act.
When asked why Democrats are holding the line over a policy that was “always supposed to sunset,” Khanna replied: “I agree with Marjorie Taylor Greene. The health care system is broken.”
“Wait, I never thought I’d hear you say that about anything,” Bream said as the two chuckled.
Just days after the government shutdown began, Greene criticized the cost of health care in a lengthy post on X.
“I think the entire system is messed up,” she wrote in a follow up post.
GOP House leadership brushed off her comments, but House Minority Leaders Hakeem Jeffries used one of Greene’s posts criticizing the cost of living — including the cost of health care — at a recent press conference defending Democrats’ demands.
“She said the cost-of-living insurance is terrible,” Khanna said Sunday. “They’re ripping off the American people. Premiums have gone up. That’s why I believe we need single-payer health care with Medicare for all in this country. But we have to deal with the here and now.”
It’s not the only thing Khanna and Greene appear to agree on. Both have also become ardent supporters of releasing all files related to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.
But Khanna on Sunday also indicated that he agreed with calls to pay federal workers during the shutdown, which both Republicans and Democrats have argued for.
“Speaker Johnson, I would vote to pay our troops, to pay essential federal workers, and at least get that passed,” Khanna said.
